Since day one of the fashion house, we have been working with whole fabric sheets. “I like this approach for its spontaneity. All you need to make a prototype is a piece of fabric, clips or pins, and a model (I prefer to work with a body rather than a mannequin). But for such a piece to look convincing, it has to be executed perfectly,” says Nino Shamatava, creative director of Ushatava. In the Second Dress collection, it becomes one of the key devices, and the canvas dress is its culmination. A strip of fabric is finished with two elastic bands: one acts as a belt, and the other fixes the piece on the chest. To transform the fabric sheet into a dress, it is enough to fix one elastic band on the hips, wrap the fabric around yourself, and then put your arms and head through the second one. Falling in a spiral, the satin forms an asymmetrical cascade, gently shimmering in the light. Despite its revealing nature, this dress will be comfortable to move (and therefore dance) in.
